Former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee died today in New Delhi. He died at 5:05 pm at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, the hospital said in a statement.

US embassy issues statement on the demise of former PM Vajpayee

“The United States grieves with India on the loss of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He will be remembered for his immense contribution in bolstering US-India relations. During his tenure, Prime Minister Vajpayee advocated for a robust partnership with the United States, referring to us as “natural allies.” The US Mission in India extends our deepest condolences to the family of former Prime Minister Vajpayee and the citizens of India.”

Funeral procession route declared

Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s final journey will go from his Krishna Menon Marg residence to the new BJP headquarters at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg to Delhi Gate to Rajghat and finally to his last abode, Smriti Sthal.

1.5 acre land allocated for memorial

According to sources, one-and-a-half acre land has been allocated to build a smarak for Vajpayee at Rashtriya Smriti Sthal.

The world is mourning the death of India’s tallest leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The US ambassador to India, Kenneth Juster tweeted his condolence message for Vajpayee, praising the leader for bolstering Indo-US relations.
